There are quite a few different activities, you can come with children of all ages. This is just what we managed in 4 days, see the resort website for other activities.
- medium sized family pool
- sauna
- several outdoor playgrounds
- fitness equipment
- skatepark for kids
- large sandy beach
- bicycle hire and cycle path around the lake
- large indoor children's amusement park
- various activities for children, at Easter there was a candy and chocolate egg search and a concert
We especially enjoyed the bike ride around the lake. Rented regular bikes and one electric bike with a trailer for two children, you can see the rental price here. There are a lot of people, so if you plan to rent in the morning, queue half an hour before opening.
There is no dedicated cycle path around the lake, so on the eastern shore, where all the resorts are located, it is not very comfortable to ride due to people walking around. Moreover, in some areas, there are signs saying that you have to walk. But on the southern, northern and western sides of the lake there are no such problems.
During the ride you will pass several very nice playgrounds, we stopped at all of them. And on the other side of the lake there is a restaurant (52.529056, 8.310500) where we had lunch, and there is a playground there too.
The path is sometimes tarmac, sometimes dirt. As for the distance, it's 31 kilometres. With stops and lunch, a ten year old girl had no problem getting round the lake on her bike, and for adults it's not difficult at all. If you are worried that you won't be able to cope, take an electric bike.
The most interesting area is on the west bank. There are marshy areas and a lot of different birds, and bairdwatchers come here.
If you don't fancy a bike, you can also walk. Both in the resort area, which is quite large, and along the seafront in both directions.
In bad weather you can go to the swimming pool or indoor amusement park. There are also several restaurants.
Unfortunately, the resort has problems. It was probably not built by Germans and it is clearly visible from some of the infrastructure, which is designed for cars, not pedestrians. There are absolutely no pavements on the territory, cars constantly drive on the central road, and this is the only road. Walking there with children is problematic.
The area around our apartment looked like this, we quite rarely see such infrastructure in Germany. In summer, and in dry weather, the situation would certainly be better.
Getting there: entrance to the resort 52.518694, 8.373556. Bus stop Lembruch Marissa Park.
