Hünnefeld Castle is located several kilometers from the Ippenburg Castle . The area was first mentioned in 1146. The first castle was built in the 13th century. In 1447, it came into the possession of the Bussche family which already owned the Ippenburg castle. Since 1592 it belongs to the Bussche-Hünnefeld family. The descendants live there today, the castle is privately owned, so there are restrictions on visiting. schedule ). The museum can be visited at the same time, but only as part of an organized tour and by appointment.

Bad Essen and 5 km from Bohmte. Unfortunately, there is no train station in Bad Essen, the nearest station is Bohmte. I went to Bad Essen by bicycle from Melle (track ) and went back from Bohmte. There are many pointers on the way. Overall trip was about 30 km. The way Melle - Bad Essen is quite difficult, a lot of ups and downs.
