The 21-meter-high tower on top of the castle hill, together with the tourist restaurant, was built in 1897/1898 by the bricklayer Krull from Gehrden. In 1898 Gehrden also got a tram line to Hannover. Because of this, until World War I, the restaurant was a popular spot for residents of nearby cities.check this link for details .

52.308028, 9.587333 ). In the early 20th century it was a luxury restaurant, which was demolished in 1959. At the moment only the barn remains, which can be seen in the photo on the left. It is now the former barn that has become a restaurant and we will stop there for lunch sometime.
