Cape Meganom is a natural attraction that is full of backpackers in summer. Our friends even have a tradition of visiting Meganom every summer.

We hired a taxi driver and drove to the cape from Sudak. Our walk started from Cape Bugas, that is on the other side of Meganom when viewed from Sudak. We went to the top along the grassy slope. By the way, the altitude is 360 meters.

Then we went down to the lighthouse and walked between the wind power plants. There are many wind turbines there. However, some of them were broken.

There is a military facility at the top of the cape. We just walked along the fence and went around it. Then we went down the hill to the beach that is closer to Sudak. After that we went to Sudak along the beach (about 5 km). In summer a lot of people stay there in the camping zone, but in May we were alone.

You can get to the top of the cape by car too. But I think the road is not very good. Our friends rented a quadbike.

Tip: The landscape of Meganom and surrounding area is very different from the landscape near Sudak and in Kara-Dag, despite the fact that these places are very close to each other. There are no trees on Meganom, the enitre top of the cape is a steppe. If the weather is hot and you're not confident in your abilities, then better refrain from visiting. As for us, we managed to get sunburns even in May.

Getting there: Minibuses from Sudak and Koktebel can drop you near the turn to Meganom. It's best to take a taxi from Sudak. If you don't want to walk up, then try to talk with a driver. But he may refuse if the road is in bad condition. We just climbed the hill, but it's not the best option.

As I understand, the best way is to take a taxi from Sudak or Koktebel. But are there places to stay, maybe apartments or guest houses near Meganom?

Hi Dipesh,
Unfortunately, there are no apartments or guest houses near Meganom. People stay there in campings or tents. Sudak is the nearest place where you can stay in a hotel. You will need a tent or a trailer to stay overnight in Meganom.
