Usually we don't visit Crimea in summer because of crowds of people on the beaches. That's why we went to Sudak in May. For me it's a perfect vacation, there are many interesting places and no tourists.

We chose Sudak as the base point for exploring the nearby attractions.  Sudak itself is a typical resort town: 5 km long beach, surrounded by mountains on either side. Now the town is "under construction" - a lot of new hotels are being built. We lived in the "Odyssey" guesthouse near Cape Alchak. We liked the hotel very much, we were the only guests there. It's possible to pay additionally for two or three meals a day. The sea is in a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

The main attraction of Sudak is the ancient Genoese Fortress built at the end of the VII century. It belongs to the top 3 largest and most preserved fortifications in Ukraine. We were pleased with the opportunity to climb the walls. At the top you can find stunning views of the Crimean coast. Sudak should be visited at least to see the fortress.

On the left side of the town is Cape Alchak. There is a tourist trail from Sudak to about half of the cape with the entrance fee of $1-2, but in May the cashdesk was empty. We didn't want to walk only on the tourist path and went further around the cape along the coast. On our way we made a lot of photos near the huge boulders, once broken away from the vertical cliffs and fallen into the sea.

A year later, our friends were snorkeling in this place and gave nice feedback about purity and visibility of the water. On the other side of the cape there are practically no paths. Be cautious: we fell down and drove several meters down the slope. In the end, we have climbed to the top of the cape (approximately 200 meters) that offers the best views of Sudak. We also saw Novyi Svet, mount Sokol (Falcon), and Cape Meganom.

Getting there: By train or plane to Simferopol, and then by minibus or taxi from the train  station. We went by plane, took a bus to the train station and found there a private driver for little money. The same driver picked us on the way back. Be aware that taxi prices can significantly increase during the season.

В Крыму много красивых приморских городов, и каждый из них прекрасен, но сегодня речь пойдёт о Судаке, необыкновенном своеобразном городе, который вы не будете сравнивать с другими крымскими курортами http://infoaboutworld.com/?paged=2
