The town of Zabljak lies at an altitude of 1.5 km and is the heart of mountain tourism in Montenegro. Tourists are attracted by mountains and glacial lakes. The largest and most beautiful is the Black Lake, which is located almost in the town and is popular among tourists.
There's an ecological trail around the lake, you can walk around it in 2-3 hours. You can also rent a boat. Many hiking trails start from the lake. All information you can receive in the tourist center in the center of Zabljak. We took some maps there.
In addition to the lake, we visited two more interesting places near Zabljak: the Durdevica Tara Bridge 20 kilometers from the downtown and the cable car to Savin Kuk 5 kilometers from the downtown. Both objects can be reached either by a rented bicycle or by taxi (20 euros and 5-7 euros respectively).
Getting there: It's not easy to reach Zabljak without a car. In the schedule there are few buses from Podgorica, but every schedule in Montenegro must be double-checked... There are 6 buses per day from Niksic and to Niksic, but the road is much worse than the road from Podgorica. The Black Lake is located 2 km from the center of Zabljak, the entrance fee is 2 euros.
