Ulrichshusen castle

Romantic castle on the shore of the lake of the same name in the heart of the national park of Mecklenburg Switzerland. There is a restaurant on the territory where we had lunch.








The castle was built around 1560 in the Renaissance style. It changed owners many times, from 1722 to 1821 belonged to the Maltzan family, and they bought it again in 1993. After 1945, the castle stood in desolation and in 1987 completely burned down. Currently the hotel is located in the castle (booking.com).


It is worth saying that the new owners carried out the reconstruction with a very high quality and with love. The place is very pleasant, not only the castle was restored, but also the park around it, farm buildings and a stone barn, where a big festival is held.




Getting there: free parking N 53 37.634 E 12 37.585. You can only get there by car, as the castle is far from the main roads.
