Our rating: 6.20

Was built in 1806 in the style of classicism by Count Hans von Schlitz on the location of the old ruined castle. After the bankruptcy of one of the owners, the building was sold to Deutsche Bank CEO Emil Georg von Staus. The Nazis used it for official meetings. In 1945 it was taken by the Soviet occupation authorities, along with other estates in the region. In the future there was a home for refugees and for the elderly.

In the 1990s, the castle was bought, repaired and opened as a five-star hotel Schlosshotel Burg Schlitz (booking.com). If you are not staying at the hotel, then it makes sense to visit this place only by car, since there is nothing special to do here. You can walk in the woods, there are rare trees and abandoned monuments.

After the construction of the castle a large park was planned. Nowadays it looks like a forest. Behind the hotel you can find a chapel (1822) and the fountain with nymphs (1903).

The fountain looks absolutely alien here and there is an explanation. It was designed for the Mosse Palace in Berlin, but the owner of the palace was arrested by the Nazis. The fountain was acquired by the owner of the castle Schlitz and was installed in the park.
