In Sharivka we visited an architectural complex built in the early XIX century by landowner Olhovsky. At the end of the XIX century it was bought by a sugar magnate Leopold Koenig. The estate got its final form by the beginning of the XX century. In Soviet times the building hosted a sanatorium for people sick with TB, and the entire complex was neglected.
Sharivka Palace is built in neogothic style. This is the only building that was refurbished. In 2008, the sanatorium moved and restoration works began.
In the park to the left of the palace, if you face the palace, you'll find a "stone of love". According to a legend, wife of Leopold Koenig betrayed him in Crimea on this stone. The servants reported to the master, and he ordered to bring the stone to Sharivka. He wanted to make his wife think of her actions.
We walked around the park near the palace. Our approximate route:
Getting there: Difficult without a car. You can go by bus from the bus station #2 in Kharkiv, but the buses run rarely. You can also go by regional train from Kharkiv to the nearest stations: Gavryshy, Sadky, Kovyagi, and from there by taxi.
