Massandra Palace is a very interesting architectural monument of the XIX century. The building was constructed in the style of French renaissance castles and has a large number of different external components.

Construction of the palace began in 1881 for Prince S. Vorontsov. However, next year the prince died and the construction stopped, only two floors were built. In 1889, the estate was bought for the Emperor Alexander III. Construction continued during 1892-1902 by a different architect Maximilian Mesmakher. By the way, it's always curious to compare different projects of one architect. Look at the house of Mesmakher, it vaguely resembles Massandra Palace.

There is a museum inside the palace. The rooms are small, but have nice restored design. The original interior has not been preserved, as a tuberculosis sanatorium used to be in the palace in Soviet times.

Getting there: The palace is located near the road Yalta - Alushta, bus stop Verhniaya Massandra (Upper Massandra), near a rock with a bird. You can get on the Crimean trolleybus, city trolleybus of Yalta or any minibus between Yalta and Alushta. Next, you need to walk and look at the signs on the road right under your feet. One of them offered to turn into the forest and we did so and saved some time.
