Arboretum in Uman was founded in 1796 by Stanislaw Pototsky and named after his wife Sophia. Today it is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Ukraine. In 2007 the park was among the winners of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine contest.
Please note that the impression from the park will depend on the season, weather, and number of tourists. We went to Uman in the middle of autumn, and it was the best time to visit the park.
There are many different interesting places in the park. We recommend that you buy a guidebook and read the history - we liked it.
Tip: On weekends there are crowds of tourists in the park, try to visit it on a weekday.
