Ebenalp mountain and Aescher guest house

In 2015, National Geographic released the book "Destinations of a Lifetime" (amazon), which included 225 places you must visit before you die. On the cover of this book is the mountain guest house Aescher.


This small hotel-restaurant in 2012 was named the best mountain shelter in the world. Here you can meet famous tennis players :)

There are a lot of walking routes from the top station of the cable car (information). Many tourists do not even use the cable car and just walk here on foot. We went along the route number 1, down to the guest house. The path will pass partly through the caves. The Rock Church was founded here in 1621.

Behind the house there is a small zoo with rabbits and ponies.


After that we went up to the cable car station along another path.








Popularity on the Internet played a cruel joke. The owners of the hotel could not maintain the necessary level of infrastructure because of the constant increase in the number of visitors. At the end of 2018, they will stop managing the house and what will happen next is not yet clear.
