Port de Pollenca

A small resort town in the north of the Spanish island of Mallorca. There is a long promenade and a nice, sandy beach.


The resort seemed to us the most standard: the sea, the beach, hotels and restaurants. Suitable for families with children.


We spent two nights here, as this is a good place to visit Cape Formentor. Apartamentos Torre Playa (booking.com) has apartments with large top-floor terraces and beach views, recommended.

At the beginning of the last century, Agatha Christie was resting here in the similar beach hotel, and described it in the storybook "Problem at Pollensa Bay and Other Stories".


To the left of the resort you can see the cape with a fortress. This is the most expensive villa in Spain, owned by a British banker and usually rented for various events. In 2019, the most famous resident of Mallorca, tennis player Rafael Nadal, got married here.


The villa was the main location in the British series "The Night Manager" (2016). Here lived the arms dealer, performed by Hugh Laurie.


The Port de Pollenca authorities discussing the possibility of opening a villa for visitors, at least for a few days a year. It is a historical monument, the fortress was built in the 17th century. The results of the negotiations are not yet known.
