Star Wars in the dunes of El Jable in Fuerteventura

Tourists in Fuerteventura go to see the dunes in Corralejo National Park. However, there is another place that is much more interesting and less accessible, the El Jable dunes. It is not accessible by public transport, and it is not easy to get here by private vehicle either, although we have seen a few off-road tours.








We left the car here 28.118111, -14.278556. You can't go any further, there's a sign. However, I've seen some people which drove futher, so you can go at your own risk. Go down the cycle path and turn left (28.122222, -14.277056).


Continue walking for quite a long time, to the highest point of the route here 28.148028, -14.289222. From this location you will start descending.

In 2023, you could drive a normal car to about here 28.145250, -14.292917. Only a good off-road vehicle can go further.


Before this place there will be another one with wandering sands, though it's somehow drivable.


You can come here just to walk around, however we went to look for the filming location of Han Solo (2018), which was a good destination. The location is here 28.163917, -14.280389. Right at this point, a settlement was built on the planet Savareen.






The place where Woody Harelson's character died was not so easy to find, you have to go down to the very edge of the cliff (28.166500, -14.285222).

On the way back we found another spot, the filming location for the second season of the TV series Foundation (2023). It is located about here 28.156111, -14.292361, you can find it with the help of the rocks from the screen shot.




In total, such a walk will take 4-5 hours.
