Blue Grotto

Blue Grotto is the most famous natural attraction of the main island of Malta. This is not single grotto, but several grottos and caves, the main of which has deepness of 45 meters. If the sea is calm, the grotto can be visited by boat (€8, 2015). Boats start from 9am.

Not far from the grotto there are also two other interesting places:
 - Megalithic temples of Hagar Quim and Mnajdra (map). They both are covered with a roof, so not as interesting as similar ones on the island of Gozo. Leave the bus 201 on the next stop after the grotto in the direction of Rabat.
 - The highest point on the island of Dingli Cliffs (map). Bus stop Cliffs.

Getting to Blue Grotto: First you need to get to the airport by buses X4, X5, X7 from Valletta (schedule). Then change to bus 201 (schedule) and go to the stop Zurrieq Grotto. Bus 201 goes to Rabat, so you can come from there aswell. There is also one more bus stop on the top of the grotto, over the sea (Zurrieq or Panorama), which offers a nice view. Therefore it is better to leave the bus there, walk down on foot and return up by bus. In the summer there is also bus 71 from Valletta, althought it does not go down to the sea and stops only on the top.
