Cuxhaven

The city consists of two parts, one is a large port, the second is a seaside resort. Earlier we were in the port, from where we visited the island of Helgoland. If you do not need to get on the ship, then there is nothing special to do there, except to look at the old lighthouse (N 53 52.321 E 8 42.499). Near the train station there is also a city park with a small Ritzebuettel castle (N 53 51.430 E 8 41.910).

We went to the beach, where walked along the promenade. Though, there was a low tide and we did not see the water :)

This situation is common in the north of Germany, as the Wattenmeer National Park is located here. At low tide, you can walk along the sand rather far from the shore, which we did.

In July, there is even a horse racing event at low tide Duhner Wattrennen (https://www.duhner-wattrennen.de).

Getting there: Cuxhaven train station is quite far from the beach, so you still need to take a bus to the Kugelbake, Cuxhaven stop, use bahn.de. There is quite a lot of parking space, we parked here N 53 53.436 E 8 40.477.
