We wanted to visit Lutsk for a long time, but we were unlucky. The direction to Lutsk is very popular, so you should take care of the tickets in advance.
The main attraction of Lutsk is the Lubart's Castle. Local officials like it, judging by the fact that the castle itself and its territory are in excellent condition. Walk around the castle, you'll see beautiful scenery from different sides. The castle is located in the old city, so the area around it is also worth visiting.
Near the castle is the Church of St. Peter and Paul, the basement of which you can visit. Just go downstairs to the basement. If the door is closed, ring a bell. The guide will come and tell you when the next tour will be (usually every 30 minutes). This guy sometimes frightened us by turning off the light. There are a lot of skeletons of Jesuits there. It was interesting, but, unfortunately, it was forbidden to take pictures.
There is one more interesting place not far from the castle. Go about 600 meters in the direction of the river; you will find a very unusual house on 9 Lyuteranska St. The house belongs to the sculptor Mykola Golovanov who used his own sculptures to design his home.
Then we went to the downtown across the Lesya Ukrainka Park. On one side of the park there is the Styr river; we had a rest on its banks.
You will enjoy walking in the center of Lutsk. There are many old buildings, interesting signs and advertisements. Walk into the courtyards in the downtown, and you'll be very surprised. Only in Lutsk you will see a rural area with horses and other domestic animals just in 100 meters from the busy streets!
Getting there: Either by train from Kyiv or Lviv or by bus from the Kyiv or Lviv train stations.
