After the division of Saxony in 1485 and the transfer of the residence to Dresden and Wittenberg, a lot of new country residences of the electors were built. Moritzburg Castle, the most beautiful of them, was originally built in 1542-46 years.

Elector Augustus the Strong rebuilt it in the years 1723-33 and gave modern view. He created a large lake and a park around. Castle became widely known after the popular movie "Three Nuts for Cinderella".

There is a footpath around the lake.

There is also a small Pheasant house (7 on the scheme), you can walk to it.

Getting there: Bus 326, 457, 458 from the train station Dresden-Neustadt to Schloß, Moritzburg, find the schedule on bahn.de. Travel time 30 mins, ticket 4 euro, Saxonyticket not valid. Return bus leaves from a stop Moritzburg Markt, it is indicated on the map as Bus.
