In Scheveningen, one of the districts of The Hague, there is a large pier, 382 metres long, with shops and restaurants, a popular holiday destination. Since 1901, there was another pier near this spot, opposite the current Grand Hotel Amrâth Kurhaus, which was dismantled by the Germans in 1943 due to fears that it could be used for landing troops.
