Henry was buried in the cathedral of Cosenza and in 1908 his remains were examined by scientists. Damage caused by leprosy was revealed on the bones and the initial theory of imprisonment may be incorrect. A father could just keep his son locked up taking care of him.
In the XV — XVI centuries Cosenza was the de facto capital of Calabria, many of the city's main sights were built during this period. And the castle became a prison.
Since the 16th century, the castle fell into decay and gradually collapsed. At the moment, the reconstruction is already completed and the castle is available for visiting.
