Palace of the Count Schoenborn

The trains in the direction of Uzhgorod go through the Chynadiyovo village, but only some of the passengers know that just 300 meters from the railway there is a beautiful hunting lodge of count Schoenborn, built in 1890-95.

This palace is unique in its kind. There are exactly 365 windows, 52 rooms, and 12 doors. An architect was likely to be addicted to numbers and calendars. In front of the castle there is a pond, the form of which resembles the borders of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at that time.

Today the building is used by the "Karpaty" ("Carpathians") sanatorium (resort). Inside is nothing special.

Near the castle there is a beautiful park with unique plants and an animals aviary.

Getting there: From Chynadiyovo leave the track Mukacheve-Svalyava and go to the footbridge over the road that leads to the palace from the "Karpaty" ("Carpathians") railway station. You can also get by train to the same station right from Kyiv. By bus from Uzhgorod or Mukachevo.
