Kara Dag is one of the most beautiful and unusual places in Ukraine. It's not just the mountains but the extinct volcano. Therefore rocks, landscapes and plants are unique here.
Kara Dag is one of the most secretive places in Crimea. It is a reserve, but, in contrast to other reserves, it is protected. The area has highest priority for conservation of Crimean flora and fauna. Of course you can get there on your own, but you will be seen by the guards and pay a fine.
You cannot walk on the territory without a guide, so an organized tour would be a perfect option. Try to take such a tour, so that after walking from Kurortnoe to Koktebel you returned by boat along the sea.

Getting there: Only as a part of organized tour. The tours start at Biological Station in the Kurortnoe village either at 8-9 am or after 4 pm. Kurortnoe can be reached by minibus from Koktebel or Feodosia. The easiest way is to book a guided tour in the town where you stay. There are several types of tours: Biological Station - Kara Dag - Koktebel, Biological Station - Kara Dag - Koktebel - the sea - Biological Station, Koktebel - the sea - Biological Station - Kara Dag - Koktebel.
