In recent years, the beach has become a place of pilgrimage for fans of Game of Thrones, as the series was filmed here.
At low tide, cliffs are a great place to catch octopuses. This craft has existed here since the foundation of the town in 1347.
After a walk along the beach, we recommend going up to the church built in honor of the patron saint of sailors. There is also an observation deck.
And also you can take a walk along this long rock.
At the very end there is a lookout which offers the best view of the cliffs.
Getting there: we parked upstairs, near the church, right above the beach N 43 17.956 W 2 15.625. But it was in October, and during the high season most likely you can’t park there, so look for a place somewhere here N 43 17.842 W 2 15.333. By bus to the Zumaia stop (lurraldebus.eus), then take a walk through the city. There is also Zumaia train station (euskotren.eus), 1600 meters from the beach.
