The oldest object on the square is the Church of St. James in Levoca. It is known for its wooden altar, possibly the largest in the world, measuring 6x18.5 meters.
The most beautiful building on the square is the town hall of 1550.
Behind the town hall you can see the 19th-century Evangelical Lutheran Church, built by German immigrants.
In front of the town hall is a historic cage for criminals.
The square is surrounded by historic houses, some very beautiful, others are still waiting to be restored.
Here, for example, is a house from 1904. The presence of houses like this always indicates that the city was rich and played an important role. The house belonged to the Turzo family, a wealthy Hungarian metal trading dynasty.
On the other side of the square, near the police building, there is a small park, popular with parents with children.
On the hill above the city can be seen a huge church. It is the Basilica of the Virgin Mary on Mount Marianska (1906 - 1914), a popular pilgrimage site.
Getting there: there was no problem with parking, we parked near the square. In Levoсa there is also a train station and a bus station.
