There is an excellent hiking trail around the lake. The place is beautiful and quite wild. Once we even met a fox, who just ran towards us on the trail and ran literally a meter away.
The lake is a glacial lake. If you see big boulders around the lake, it means it was formed during the Ice Age.
The main attraction here is the incredible reflections, and therefore it is important to get to the lake in calm weather.
There are several hotels of different price categories around the lake. The newest and most luxurious is Hotel Kempinski, with prices starting from 250 euros. And if you have 1500 euros, you can stay in the Romantic Suite, perhaps the best hotel room in Slovakia.
Nearby is a small Hotel Solisko, with prices from 170 euros.
On the other side of the lake is the relatively "budget" Hotel Patria, with prices starting at 100 euros, which can be seen in many photos of the lake. And although it is closest to the mountains and the cable car, you cannot see the lake with the mountains in the background from the hotel itself.
A new attraction, the observation tower, was recently built near the Patria Hotel. There is also a cableway to a height of 1840 meters and the start of several popular trails, for example to Skok waterfall.
New lakeside apartments look unnatural in the middle of hotels in the historical style.
A little farther from the lake there are other, more budget hotels.
Getting there: there are large parking lots here 49.119772, 20.064970, but we parked closer to the lake 49.121194, 20.063436. In 2022 it was not possible to drive further. There is also a train station.
