The Buerbreen Glacier is part of the large Folgefonna glacier. Located in a picturesque valley, near the city of Odda.
As it turned out - the route is quite difficult with the total climb of 650 meters. In the description it was stated 3 hours, but it took us 5 hours in total. We cannot recommend it, given that there are many other glaciers in Norway that can be viewed without any effort.
At first, you will go on a flat surface and everything will be fine. Water can be taken along the way.
The glacier is visible in the distance
Then through the forest, it is also easy. But then you have to climb the rocks using numerous chains and ropes.
During our ascent, we saw few couples who returned and did not reach the top. You can go up only in good weather. Do not go when the ground is wet since it will not only be more difficult, but simply dangerous.
In the end there will be a view of the glacier, which, however, disappointed us. As we already wrote, in Norway there are enough other glaciers, with much easier treks.
The view from the drone is much better
The valley is beautiful and worth a climb even without the glacier.
On the top you can also see the stones ironed with ice.
Getting there: parking N 60 02.680 E 6 28.610, 150 NOK (15 euros). It is impossible to get by bus, the nearest town is Odda, 7 kilometers away.
