As you can guess from the name, there was originally a shipyard of one of the shipbuilding companies at this location. After it was closed in 1984, the buildings were taken over by squatters, and in the early 2000s they were transferred to various companies such as Greenpeace, Red Bull, MTV, Viacom and others.
