Plompe Tower (Plompe Toren)

Our rating: 6.40

The Plompe Tower is all that remains from the village of Koudekerke, which once existed at this place.

The church which stood nearby was destroyed in 1583, but the tower remained and served as a beacon for ships that sailed to Antwerp. By 1700 the village, and other 15 villages, were washed away. The tower is the only construction left from the middle ages.

Today there is a road to the tower. The visit is free, from 9 to 18 every day you can go upstairs.
