From Monterosso starts the Blue Trail (Sentiero Azzurro) across all the towns of the Cinque Terre, we walked to Vernazza.
From the trail is visible the railway, which was built through all the towns on the coast. On the rock near the sea stands the Aurora tower (Aurora Torre), the symbol of the city. One of the few surviving towers from the VI century.
On the mountain, above the tower, there are other historical sights - the church (Chiesa di San Francesco) and the convent of the Capuchin (Convento dei Cappuccini), built in 1622.
In 2011, Monterosso was partially destroyed by the strong flood (video). At the moment the city has already been restored.
Getting there: by train, which runs between La Spezia and Levanto, through the towns of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Find the schedule at http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en. Coordinates of a large car parking N 44 08.682 E 9 38.780.
