A little higher on the hill there is a small pond which accumulates water. And below the tree, at the beginning of the 20th century, there was a sawmill, which worked on electricity produced by the water. The power plant only worked when there was enough water in the pond. Therefore, every morning a sawmill worker went uphill and checked the water level. At some point, he was tired of it and came up with an interesting solution. Using wooden pipes, he conducted water under the an old tree and now the water level in the pond was easily determined by the presence of a fountain over the tree.
