The region around Münster has the largest number of water castles. The Vischering Castle is perhaps one of the most beautiful and characteristic in Westphalia.

It was built in 1271 by a local bishop who fought with the Lüdinghausen family. The castle of the latter is located literally two steps away, here N 51 46.299 E 7 26.390, but we did not know about it.

You can walk in the park around the castle and see it from all sides.

There is a knight's museum in the castle and some exhibitions. In 1951 there was a big fire and the castle burned down. A complete reconstruction was carried out.
