Rhododendron Festival in Westerstede

We came to Westerstede for the rhododendron festival. There are at least two other places with rhododendrons around the town, so we included them all in one trip:

Hobbie Rhododendron Park
Gristede Rhododendron Park

These two parks are open every year, and in Westerstede itself the RHODO festival takes place every 4-5 years. During the festival, huge flowerbeds of rhododendrons and other flowers are planted near St Peter's Church and in the Thalenweide City Park. The location is no coincidence, as this region of Germany is known as the best place to grow rhododendrons.


















The most beautiful and most photographed spot is near the old bell tower.
