The concept of the theme park Movie Park are Hollywood boulevards and studios. All arrtactions are related to various movies and cartoons: Ice Age, Avatar, Van Helsing, Batman, Superman, Police Academy, Lethal Weapon, Tom and Jerry, The Neverending Story (though many don't know that this movie is German) and others. There are roller coasters and water activities as well. The streets are decorated with cars and buildings of 1950-60s. If you don't like crowds, come in the afternoon. The park is already empty an hour before the closing time.
Cafes and restaurants in the park are quite expensive, so it makes sense to take the sandwiches if you go for the entire day. Check out opening hours and prices at the official website. The park is open from late March to early November.
Tip: Don't go to Time Machine, it's an ordinary 4D cinema, nothing special. Better go to the 4D cinema near the entrance, everything will be faster and more interesting, especially if you watch Shrek.
In 300 meters from the Movie Park there's another park for children aged 9-10, www.schloss-beck.de.
Getting there: You need to get to the Bottrop Feldhausen Bf station. Regional train from Essen goes 29 minutes, from Dortmund 1 hour 17 minutes, from Oberhausen 32 minutes. From the station you can either walk for 5-7 minutes or ride on a free bus.
