Hundisburg castle

Luxury Baroque castle-palace. During the Thirty Years' War, the original Renaissance castle was destroyed and in 1693 - 1712 it was rebuilt in Baroque style by Johann Friedrich II. Von Alvensleben, who inherited it.






In 1945, a garrison of Soviet soldiers was in the castle, and they made a fire, probably due to carelessness. The castle was destroyed and is still under reconstruction.




The magnificent baroque garden was completed in 1719. In 1945, a football field appeared in its place and the garden almost disappeared. In 1994, the administration of the city of Haldensleben acquired a castle and garden, reconstruction was started, and the garden and park were restored. The territory can be visited freely, there is also a restaurant.
