Romkerhaller Wasserfall in the Harz Mountains is quite high for Germany. The amount of water is low, but it is very conveniently located in a picturesque place and it is possible to climb to the top. We visited the waterfall in winter and the climb to the top was extreme, but at other times of the year it is highly recommended. Although the frozen waterfall is also interesting to see, in colder periods it turns into an ice column.
The waterfall is partly artificial, in 1863 the owners of the hunting lodge and restaurant diverted water from a small tributary of the Oker Romke through a 350 metre long canal.
