Krka is one of the best national parks in Croatia, probably second by beauty after Plitvice Lakes. The name was received from the river which flows throughout the park.
There are 7 waterfalls in the park, but the vast majority of tourists visit only one waterfall, largest and most famous - Skradinski Buk. It consists of 17 stages with a total length of about 800 meters.
There is a lake with a bridge at the bottom of the waterfall.
Bridge offers best view of the waterfalls.
Although, during high season you will see the following picture :)
Yes, you can swim in the river, it is the main feature of the park. The bravest do the following :)
The park has wooden walkways that allow you to see the most picturesque corners. There are informational signs along the trails about the local flora and fauna.
Despite the fact that most tourists visit only waterfall Skradinski buk, the park is much bigger. Full map is here.
Other points of interest:
Visovac island with Franciscan monastery founded in 1445. There is a museum inside the monastery.
Roški Slap waterfall
Serbian Orthodox monastery, founded in 1350.
All the three places can be visited during a boat trip from the waterfall Skradinski buk (see map above).
There are several entrances to the park: Lozovac (main), Skradin and Roški Slap work from 9 to 16. The first two lead to the waterfall Skradinski buk. The entrance ticket to the park during the high season (June, July, August, September ) costs $20, in other months cheaper. Boat trip costs $20-25. Find all prices here.
Getting there: The park is located near the coast. The nearest airport is in Split. From there go by bus to Sibenik and transfer to the bus to Lozovac (find schedule here). There is also a bus Sibenik - Skradin, but it is better to enter the park through the main entrance Lozovac. Upon arrival ask the cashier when the bus will return to Sibenik and where it stops. Taxi from Sibenik will cost about $40.
