Durres is the main sea resort of Albania. It is an ancient city that was founded in the 7th century BC. The city is located only 30 kilometers from Tirana. Modern highway connects it with the capital, so you can get there pretty fast. Durres is the typical resort city, so there's no sense in describing it.
But it is better not to stay in Durres itself and go few kilometers to the south, to the long beach, along which there are dozens of three-star hotels. We stayed at the OAZ hotel. It's an ordinary beach hotel with breakfast, underground parking and swimming pool. We paid 35 euros for the room. Nearby there is a pizzeria and other cafes. In September, when we were there, the beach was almost empty. Nice place to stay, of course, by the standards of Albania :)
Getting there: Tirana airport is located only 17 kilometers from Durres, the taxi will cost 25-30 euros. Durres is connected by ferry with Italian Bari, Trieste, and Ancona as well as with Slovenian Koper.
