2015This time we came to Ternopil for three days. Spent the night at the hotel "Ternopil", overlooking the lake (
booking.com). We recommend it, by the way, this hotel has the best location and excellent breakfast. Ternopol a great place weekend for a weekend trip, with a lot of interesting towns and castles around.

2010, 2011We visited Ternopil twice. The city is located in the center of the region, so you can stay overnight and visit the small towns nearby. We stayed in the "Alligator" hotel complex (
http://alligator.te.ua/?lang=en). It was located near the Ternopil aquapark, where we went in the evening. Unfortunately, now (2013) the hotel and aquapark are closed, so check the data in the Internet before visiting.
Ternopil is a very interesting city with lots of beautiful streets and buildings. There is a huge pond with stunning views not far from the downtown. There is also a castle, but it doesn't look like a castle.

The pond is the most beautiful place in the city. During our first visit the sky wasn't clear enough and we couldn't appreciate the beauty of this place. But the second time we were lucky to see a fantastic sunset and spent at least two hours near the pond. You can read more about this pond
here.

If you are looking for national food, then you should definetely visit the
Stariy Mlyn (The Old Mill) restaurant. This is a restaurant and museum in one, with lots of interesting stuff inside. The cutlery is served in straw shoes, the menus are "burnt" on wooden tablets, the salads are served in large wooden spoons, and so on.
