The Ostrog Monastery is a working Serbian Orthodox monastery in Montenegro, founded in the XVII century. The main temple is located in the rock at a height of 900 meters above sea level. On Fridays and weekends, in addition to numerous tourists, many local pilgrims come here. Waiting time in the queue at the entrance to the upper monastery can grow up to several hours, as it is one of the most visited religious places in Europe. On any day better come after 4 pm, when the number of visitors decreases.

Getting there: The monastery can be reached by car, but look at the number of visitors and other cars. In case of large number of other vehicles it will be difficult to find a parking place near the top monastery. We were there at 5 pm on Friday and parked without any problems. The road is quite difficult. Buses bring tourists to the lower monastery, from where they go on foot uphill for a long time. It's almost impossible to get there by public transport. There are regular buses between the cities of Podgorica and Niksic, but the distance between the road and the monastery is about 8 km and it will take you 3 hours to get there on foot.
