The Dzhuryn Waterfall is the largest waterfall of the flat part of Ukraine (16 m).

However, this waterfall is artificial. Now it's not clearly visible, and its origin is more a legend than truth. It's believed that 400 years ago the Turks blocked the way of the Dzhuryn river to have access to the castle on the land. The new canal formed a waterfall.

The amount of falling water in the waterfall is huge: in some places it's possible to come close and the noise will be so strong that you won't be able to hear your friends.

Like all big waterfalls, the Dzhuryn Waterfall is popular with tourists. It's a big minus for us. Better visit it in the morning.

The waterfall can be viewed from the other side of the river. Just cross the bridge at the top of the waterfall.

By the way, the path to the waterfall is not easy. If you go by car you can go down from the main road if the weather is good. If you are in an organized group, you will have to walk down and then go up on the way back. But keep in mind that the road to the valley is not easy, especially if you have to pass other cars. And if you don't have an off-road vehicle, then better leave your car on the road at the top.

The valley is very interesting and resembles a crash site of a large meteorite, though there's no evidence for this observation.

On the hill in the middle of the valley there are ruins of the magnificent Chervonohrad Castle (1820). The road to it runs through the children's camp. Unlike the most of the ruins on the territory of Ukraine, Chervonohrad ruins are very picturesque. Of course they are dangerous, but at the same time attractive, causing the desire to explore every single stone.

Although the castle is called Chervonohrad ("hrad" means "town") there is no town in this place anymore. Another Chervonohrad is located in the Lviv region near the Polish border. The local one was once a royal city and administrative center, but then disappeared from the maps.

Getting there: Please note that there are no signs pointing to this place, so it may be difficult to find it. The easiest way is to get to the Nyrkiv village and then ask the locals about the way. It's difficult to get there by public transport. Anyway you will have to walk at least 5-6 kilometers over rough terrain. There is a bus Zaleschiki-Nyrkiv. If you don't know the road, go to the Nyrkiv or Nagoryany villages and ask the locals.
