We then parked on the other side of the lake, near a restroom. If you are traveling through Harz, you should definitely stop at least for a while in this beautiful place. If you are traveling with children, there is a playground a little further down the shore (51.664611, 10.888806).
There was a good view of the castle and church from this point.
Stiege Castle is one of the few surviving monuments of the early Middle Ages in the Harz. The first mention of it dates back to the 9th century, when it served as a hunting castle and a resting place when crossing the Harz. Nowadays, the castle houses a café with homemade pastries and a small store with interior design ideas.
The church “Zur Hilfe Gottes” was built between 1707 and 1711 on the site of an old dilapidated church.
