Rauma is one of the oldest cities in Finland and is primarily interesting for its historical center Old Rauma, the largest wooden historical center in the Nordic countries. Some inhabited houses have survived from the 17th century. The entire center is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Old Town Hall in the central square.
There are no people on the streets and we don't know why. In other Finnish cities, there were quite a few locals on the streets. And here we walked in the evening and in the morning, but did not see anyone.
However, we did not complain: neither people, nor cars, prevented us from enjoying the walk and the wooden architecture.

We also visited this place N 61 08.377 E 21 28.379. There is a restaurant and a beautiful Kiikartorni tower that you can visit. It was built in 1992 on the site of the older tower of 1892, which was used as follows: when the ship was approaching in the distance, signal flags were hung on the tower and the inhabitants of the city associated with the ship could prepare for its arrival.
We spent the night in Scandic Rauma (booking.com), if you are travelling by car, then this is a good place. If without a car, then there are many hotels in the old town.
Getting there: by bus from Helsinki (3.5 hours), Turku (1.5 hours), Tampere (2.5 hours). The schedule can be checked here https://www.matkahuolto.fi/en. There is no train station in Rauma, but you can buy a ticket: the train will bring you to Kokemäki and there will be a bus transfer. The fastest way: by train to Turku and then by bus.
