Animal Rescue Centers in Ecuador

Ecuador has dozen of centers for animal rescue. There live animals that have been saved from the smugglers or have been injured and can not live in the wild. In fact it's zoos. We visited one of such places, unfortunately I do not have the coordinates. It is located on the road between Tena and Baeza, near the town of Archidona. In the jungle area there are a lot of such zoos.

The animals are beeing cared by volunteers, they also help foreign tourists with the translation. Everyone can be a volunteer, here is the information about one of the centers. I must say that some tourists believe that the animals are kept here in the bad conditions and only to earn money.

There are many animals in the center, we took pictures of a few. At the entrance visitors are greeted by many talking parrots. Of course, they speak in Spanish :)

Here also hangs a huge, unknown to us fruit.


On site there is a very beautiful and unusual alley.


The length of this crocodile more than 3 meters.


Some animals somehow get out of the cells and walk around.






Monkeys always can make a surprise, for example this one use two stones to break nuts.
