Arrecife is the capital of Lanzarote. It has a beach, hotels and a promenade, but I don't see the point of living here while on vacation. It's more of a residential town and there are many more interesting places on Lanzarote.

We stopped by for a walk on the promenade, it has some parks, restaurants and playgrounds.

The main attraction in the city is Fort San Jose, built between 1776 and 1779 in case of a pirate attack. In 1976, a museum of modern art opened inside, the interiors of which were prepared by César Manrique.

The castle is on an island, which can be accessed by a long pier. There are picturesque views of the city.

Getting there: The main airport of Lanzarote is in Arrecife. We drove in by car, parked in the underground parking lot right on the promenade 28.957855, -13.554946.
