Queluz Palace (1742 - 1767) is the major Portuguese royal palace. Presidents of other countries stay here during official visits. Alsmost all the palace is open to the public. Curiously, it looks pretty ugly from the front side (entrance), but very impressive from the garden.

Getting there: By train on the Sintra line(
http://www.cp.pt) from the stations Oriente, Rossio or Entrecampos to Monte Abrão or Queluz-Belas. Then on foot about 1 kilometer.
