The main interest are the Inca ruins, probably the palace of the ruler Pachacuti. Ruins are located on the hill so you need to climb. It's not easy on a hot day and at an altitude of 2700 meters.
Pay attention to storehouses, they are very well preserved here. Wind and height defended their contents against decay.
In addition to the ruins, we recommend to visit the town, it starts around the main square, beneath this mountain.
Town has square layout and all the walls and paths are lined with cobblestones. Real medieval settlement.
On one of the streets we have found the remains of the Inca house. Note the single stone lintel, a sign of importance.
In some places, there is a flowing stream right along the houses.
Getting there: on a minibus from Calle Pavitos in Cusco (2 hours, $3.5). Or on the buses Cusco - Urubamba ($1) - Ollantaytambo ($1). The most convenient way is to take a taxi in Cusco and see Chinchero, Moray, Maras on the way to Ollantaytambo.
