The Boyabreen Glacier, unlike the Briksdal Glacier, is located directly near the road. It is also part of a massive Jostedalsbreen Glacier, the largest in continental Europe. There's also a meltwater lake here, but almost no tourists. The glacier slides down at a speed of 2 meters per day.
If you have enough time and energy, then you can see the glacier from above. But you need to rise to the height of more than one kilometer. We didn't have enough time, but if you are interested, the trail starts from this parking lot (map).
The same map in PDF can be downloaded here.
Getting there: The nearest town is Mundal (Fjærland region). Buses run to the glacier and museum of glaciers from the pier. Bus schedule from Oslo, Bergen and other cities to Mundal or Fjærland can be found here. In summer you can arrive by car ferry from Balestrand or Hella.
