Picturesque resort town on the Adriatic coast of Italy. Little-known and remote, but very beautiful and sincere.

A distinctive feature is the old city, which stands on high limestone cliffs. Pizzomunno rock is the symbol of the city.

You could see it on the posters of Wonder Woman (2017).

A rock stands on the Scialara Beach. The city has several long beaches, which regularly receive the Blue Flag for the purity of the water. By the way, we can recommend Vieste for a beach holiday, because of good beaches both in the city and in the Gargano National Park.

On the rocks above Pizzomuno there is a castle founded in 1242, but it is open to public only in the summer.

We stayed at the Quintessenza Charme Rooms (booking.com). Chose it because of the rooftop terrace and location in the old town. There are big problems with parking in the city, we found a small paid parking lot near the hotel (N 41 52.854 E 16 10.686). If you come for a beach holiday, then it is better to search for a hotel on the beach.

Having settled in the hotel, we went for a walk in the old city, which is perfectly preserved.

Reached the Church of San Francesco, founded in 1438. There is a path to the right which leads to the cape.

Due to its excellent strategic location, Cape San Francesco was inhabited a long time ago. High banks protected it from being captured from the sea.

In addition to landscapes, you can find here Trabucco, a traditional fisherman's house. Such wooden buildings appeared here in the 18th century. They were built from Aleppo pine, which grows in unlimited quantities in the Gargano National Park.

There are a lot of rabbits on the back of the church. In previous centuries, the church was both a military fortress and a prison, so there should be many secret basements where they live.

We can also recommend seafood pasta in Grottino (N 41 53.013 E 16 10.928). Maybe we were just hungry, but this pasta deserves a Michelin star.
