In addition to the
gorgeous zoo, Hanover has another, little-known place with animals. Tiergarten was founded in 1678/79 by Duke Johann Friedrich Kahlenberg, who released 120 doe in the park for hunting. Nowadays nobody hunting the animals and they walk freely on the whole territory of 112 hectares. In addition to doe appeared red deer, roe deer, wild boars, hares, various birds and bats. Wild boars have an enclosures with the size of a football field.
In the second week of Octoben there is a small festival in the garden for children and adults. They collect acorns and chestnuts, which is used later in winter for feeding the animals.
Tiergarten is open from 7 am till dusk. In November and December from 11:30 till dusk. Free admission.

Residents of Hanover come to the park for jogging and relaxing. Here you can sit on the bench and watch a herd of deer.

Getting there: Tram 5 in the direction of Anderten to Tiergarten stop, buy a ticket for one zone. Entrance to the park through the gate to the right of the Leonardo hotel.
