The area is new, judging by the buildings, we did not find any old town. Although the village Tegel was founded in 1237. The two interesting places we visited were the Greenwich Promenade on Tegel Lake and the area of the former industrial port.
The latter has been converted into a very nice residential area on the water.
Development here took place in two periods. Postmodernist houses were built from 1984 to 1987.
Modern development took place from 2012 to 2017.
In addition to the island, a distinctive feature is the location of some apartments directly on the water, and some houses literally stand on water, you can even touch it with your hand from the balcony.
The problem of floods is solved in an original way.
Between the old port and the waterfront stands an impressive historic bridge (Tegeler Hafenbrücke). The footbridge was built in 1908 in order to develop tourism in the region.
The Greenwich Promenade area was a cattle pasture around 1900, but since being turned into an promenade, it has become a popular recreational area for Berliners.
Villa Borsig, built in 1908, can be seen on the opposite shore of the lake. A private villa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Getting there: Alt-Tegel metro station.
